小さな息子の手を引いて
せともの祭の花火を見に行ってきました。
駅周辺の祭り会場にもそそられましたが
あるのは限られた時間だったので
真っ直ぐに打ち上げスポットを目指しました。

周囲に無料駐車場がたくさん開放されていて
たまたま水無瀬（みなせ）中学校に車を停めましたら
車を降りたその場が
辺り一帯
ベスト観覧スポットでした。
思いがけず、でかでかと
遮るものなき大輪を
40分間フルコースで堪能できました
司会は、瞬間にふさわしい言葉を
その場で見つけていく
脳トレ的な要素もある仕事ですが
マイクにのせるわけでも
誰に発表するわけでもなく
美しいものから
言葉を連想する作業は
単純に気持ちがよく
瞑想状態になりたい時など、オススメです。
頭の中でくるくると
花火を表す言葉
たとえば
光の破裂
sparkle showers
など
次々に思い浮かべておりましたが
巡り巡って
この金属と火薬の演出に
「花」
と名付けた先人の感性に
黙って打たれました。
美しいものに
ただ心を奪われるのは
それだけで
貴重なリフレッシュになりますね。
I took my little son to see the fireworks at the Setomono Festival.
We skipped the crowds near the station and headed straight to the viewing area.

There were lots of free parking nearby. We parked at Minashi Junior High School—and it turned out to be the perfect spot. Without crowds, just an sky filled with bursts of light.
For 40 minutes, we watched in silence.
As someone who usually works with words, I found it refreshing to let them simply float in my mind—no need to speak, no need to explain.
“Explosions of light,” “sparkle showers,” and then… I remembered: someone long ago chose to call them “flowers.”
We call fireworks Hanabi-----''Hana'' means flowers in Japanese.
Sometimes, beauty speaks for itself.
